The Packing List Kevin’s backpack is very big. He is standing under his tree with Dottie. He is trying to put a giant eucalyptus branch into his bag. "Kevin, stop!" Dottie laughs. "You cannot carry a whole tree to Perth. It is too heavy." Kevin looks sad. "But I need food! How many leaves do I need for a long trip?" "You can find leaves on the way," Dottie explains. "You need to pack the important things. Do you have much water? The sun is very hot in Australia. You must follow the Slip, Slop, Slap rule." Kevin looks at his list. He has a small bottle of water, a hat, and his togs. "I have some water, but I don't have a lot of sunscreen," Kevin says. "Don't worry," Dottie says. "We can go to the shop. You also need a brekkie bar for energy." Kevin takes the heavy branch out of his bag. Now the bag is light. He puts on his hat and smiles. "I am ready to walk to the station," Kevin says. "Let’s go, Dottie!" 🐨 Aussie Talk Dottie mentions the "Slip, Slop, Slap" rule. This is a very famous Australian slogan to stay safe in the sun: Slip on a shirt, Slop on some sunscreen, and Slap on a hat! Kevin also packs his "togs." In different parts of Australia, people use different words for "swimsuit." In Queensland and New South Wales, they often say "togs" or "swimmers." Finally, Dottie mentions "brekkie."
