Title
Kevin-03: The Three SistersReading Text
The Three Sisters Kevin is walking through the bush in the Blue Mountains. The air smells like fresh eucalyptus leaves. He looks down into a very deep valley and sees three giant rocks. "Wow," Kevin says. "What are those?" A tourist is standing next to Kevin. She has a big camera. "Those are the Three Sisters," she says. "It is a famous Aboriginal legend. Look! The sun is behind them now." Kevin looks at the rocks. They are beautiful and orange. "Can you take my photo in front of the rocks?" Kevin asks. "Of course," the tourist smiles. "Say G'day!" "G'day!" Kevin smiles. He is happy he left his tree. He is walking between the tall trees, and he is very excited. The world is very interesting, and he is ready for his next adventure. šØ Aussie Talk Notice how the tourist says "G'day!" In Australia, you could say "Hello" or "Good morning," but "G'day" (Good day) is the most famous Aussie greeting. Kevin also walks into the "bush". In Australia, "the bush" means the natural forest or woodland areas outside of the towns and cities. š Grammar Spotlight Look at this sentence: "A tourist is standing next to Kevin." This is an example of a Preposition of Place. We use it to show where someone or something is located. In the story, the sun is behind the rocks, Kevin stands in front of them, and he walks between the trees.
