Have you ever seen a beautiful rainbow in the sky? A rainbow happens when sunlight meets rain. Sunlight looks white, but it is actually made of many colors. When light enters a raindrop, it bends and splits into different colors. This is called refraction. We can see seven main colors in a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. A good way to remember these colors is the name "ROY G. BIV." Rainbows usually appear when it is sunny and raining at the same time. You must stand with the sun behind you to see one clearly.
