Reading Text
The African lion is often called the 'king of the jungle,' but they actually live in open grasslands and deserts. They are very special because they are the only cats that live in big family groups called prides. In a pride, the lionesses do most of the hunting. They are excellent predators and very loving mothers. Female lions use stealth to catch their food. Male lions are famous for their big, hairy manes and their loud roar. A lion’s roar is very important because it warns other lions to stay away from their territory. It also helps keep the family together. Lions are big and ferocious, but they are also very social animals. They spend a lot of time resting and playing with their cubs.
